The possible closure of factories employing disabled workers via employment agency Remploy looms as the Government refuse to provide additional funding to keep them running.
The recent threat of further factory closures follows thirty four closures in 2012, with them being deemed to not be financially viable, resulting in the unemployment of many Remploy employees. Remploy work tirelessly to provide sustainable employment opportunities to transform the lives of disabled people and those who experience complex barriers to work by.
In a bid to aid with reducing outgoings and in hope to keep these factories open, we have been in talks with the management of the factories under threat and are offering our services free of charge. Services such as local exhaust ventilation testing and examination will be undertaken, which is a statutory requirement and will help them to continue working safely.
Operations director of Impact Technical Services, Tony Bosworth commented: “We were very concerned to learn of the factory closures and we hope that other service providers will follow suit and offer their services for free too.” Health & Safety Officer at Remploy Automotive, Craig Douglas said in response: “The work was completely free of charge and I found Impact a pleasure to work with and a very professional company. Their recognition of our situation is great and I hope that many other companies will follow this genuine initiative. Well done and thank you Impact!”
