Client Overview
A leading test equipment manufacturer, designing, building, and supporting test engineering solutions, contacted us regarding airborne composite dust being released from X-Y router heads during the cutting of composite sheets.
The Challenge
Dust from the router heads was dispersing into the workplace, creating health risks and increasing cleaning requirements. The client needed an extraction system that would effectively capture dust at the source and improve overall productivity.
The Solution
Our design engineers installed a centralised high-vacuum dust extraction system. Key features included:
- HFU-F 7500 high vacuum unit with 13m² antistatic filter cartridge and compressed air self-cleaning function for extended filter life.
- Four routers connected via antistatic flexible hoses to allow full X-Y movement.
- System setup based on 100% utilisation of all routers with ABB Inverter control to optimise energy efficiency.
- Commissioned in line with HSG258, including visual testing using Tyndall illumination to verify dust capture.
